I’d like to start off by say thank you to Eric Luman and the management of The Cellar for allowing us to have our last meeting there. It looks like the start of something good for both us and The Cellar. Maybe down the road we can approach the management of The Cellar and ask them to be our corporate sponsor.

Well the turnout was less than expected for the meeting, so for those who couldn’t make it, here are the minutes of the meeting. I’m sure everyone that was there enjoyed the brewer tour after the meeting

6:20 p.m. Meeting commenced

6:21 Keith gave the treasurer report

6:21 Minutes from last meeting

6:24 By-laws handed out for review and amendments

6:25 Family memberships amendment proposed and voted down

6:31 By-laws voted on and approved as amended

6:35 Discussed the Big Brew 6 May, those club members wanting to participate need to let Walter know by 01 May

In order to support the Big Brew, our next meeting will be on 6 May at The Cellar, Eric Luman the Brew master of The Cellar is checking with The Landing management to see if we can conduct our big brew there. If approved they will allow us to setup and brew beer next to the landing.

6:44 Discussed a possible fund raisers during the big brew day to include sales of t-shirts.

6:46 Formed new committee: Brewing Training

6:56 Guest speaker Eric Luman

7:00 Meeting adjourned and brewer tour started

Now here is the information on “The Big Brew” - Each year on the first Saturday in May, homebrewers unite non-brewing and brewing friends and family to celebrate National Homebrew Day, joining with thousands of homebrewers from around the world in brewing the same recipes and sharing a simultaneous toast at noon Central Time. Eric is approaching the landing management for us to see if we can bring our brewing gear to the landing and have a group brew open to the public. This would be an excellent opportunity to introduce our hobby to more people and maybe get a few new home brewers. Anyone wanting to participate in the brewing please notify Walter by 1 May.

To help support this we will be having our next meeting at the landing at 6pm 6 May not 13 May. I’ll keep everyone informed about the Big Brew.

The new committee “Brewing training” will be the people who are willing to give brewing lessons to newbie’s. The way this will work is when someone goes into Ken’s store or ask a member about wanting to learn homebrewing, then the members on the committee will be called to see when they will be brewing again and then put in contact with the newbie. Then you get with the newbie and let them watch a homebrew session and answer their questions. All members wanting to participate please let me know.
