AHA BIG BREW DAY (Learn to Homebrew)

Big Brew Day 2022!

In 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association created Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world.

So mark your calendars and come on out and celebrate with other members of CASK. This event will happen on Saturday May 7th at Just Brew It. We’ll get setup in the parking lot. Feel free to bring your brew equipment to brew or just come to hang out. There will be water for chilling wort and some electrical to run pumps and small electrical devices. Possibly 1-2 outlets to run your all on one system, but that would be first come first serve.

If you’ve never been to a group brew, here are a few things to expect…
  • Bring water to keep hydrated. We’ll be brewing outside and it will probably be hot.
  • Bring some homebrew or a commercial brew to share. Its sort of a requirement since its what CASK is named after. (Cowford Ale Sharing Klub)
  • We’ll be out in the open, so if you have a shelter to set up, that makes brew day much more enjoyable.
  • If you need water to chill your wort, remember there’s only one spigot. It’s a good idea to bring a water hose and some type of splitter.
  • Bring food and maybe a little to share. We’ll be hanging out for several hours that day.
This group brew we’ll also be doing a brew equipment auction. We’ll have a table setup with spare CASK equipment. We’ll be doing some sort of auction for that equipment. All proceeds will go back to the club. Are you interested in donating equipment to auction off? Everything will go back to the club!
Not a member of AHA (American Homebrew Association) or maybe need to renew your membership? Now you can join up or renew through CASK! Just click on the link below and it’ll take you to the AHA website.

FIRST COAST CUP PLANNING MEETING

It’s that time of year. Time to plan for the First Coast Cup! Whether you are new to the club or a veteran, the club can use your help! This event is the biggest event of the year for CASK. It takes a lot of planning and many hands to make it happen. There will be a series of planning meetings before the big event with the first one happening this Thursday @ 6PM.

If you’d like to be part of this team, join the CASK officers and other fellow club members Seven Bridges Grille & Brewery this Thursday at 6:00 PM. There will be a meeting every 2 weeks after until the event.

Whether you are volunteering or not, get to planning and brewing those beers for First Coast Cup. Since it’s our competition, we need to have the majority of the entries and win the Heavy Medal Club. There is also a Pro’s vs Joe’s competition so plan for that as well.
